Rōpū Karearea and Mrs Wardle have been researching the history of the West Eyreton District in readiness for our 150th Jubilee in October this year. They have created a map of the roads and added information about the features of our district such as the Wai-a-raki/Eyre River, the Wolffs Road swing bridge and the West Eyreton Hall. They have interviewed their own whanau and written up how we each came to be living in West Eyreton. They have discovered that just like the early settlers we all moved to West Eyreton for a variety of reasons - family, job opportunities and space.
