Ropū Kotāre is our Year 0-1 room where children will find a supportive, caring and stimulating environment. Ropū Kotāre has two teachers, Mrs Judi Tallott who works Monday to Wednesday and Ms Veanne Reed who works Thursday and Friday. Within Ropū Kotāre two programmes run simultaneously throughout the day. One is a play based programme that provides opportunities for the children to lead their own learning and choose where and what they want to play. Alongside this is a more structured programme delivering teacher directed activities and group or individual work focusing on reading, writing and maths.
We also offer a transition programme on a Monday afternoon for three and four year olds. This is a wonderful opportunity for preschoolers to become familiar with school routines and expectations and explore the school environment alongside peers and other five year olds. One of the most important things for us is to ensure a smooth and enjoyable transition from preschool to primary school for all our students.
