Home Zone

The West Eyreton School Home Zone falls within the boundaries of:The Waimakariri River; Both sides of Carleton Rd to South Eyre Rd; South Eyre Rd to Steffens Rd; Steffens Rd to Oxford Rd; Oxford Rd to Tram Rd; Tram Rd to Brown’s Road; Brown’s Rd to Heatherton Rd; Heatherton Rd to Two Chain Rd; south along Two Chain Rd to Waimakariri River; Waimakariri River to Carleton Rd. 

Proof of residence within the home zone will be required.


The legislation affecting enrolment schemes

(State non-integrated schools)

The Education Amendment Act (No 3) 2010, has changed the requirements contained in the Education Act 1989 (“the Act”) around the selection of applicants who live outside the home zone, section11F. The Education Act 1989 provides the legislative framework under which a board of trustees may develop, implement and operate an enrolment scheme.

The order of priority in which applicants who live outside a school's home zone are to be offered places at the school is now as follows:

(a) first priority must be given to any applicant who is accepted for enrolment in a special programme run by the school.

(b) second priority must be given to any applicant who is the sibling of a current student of the school.

(c) third priority must be given to any student who is the sibling of a former student of the school.

(d) fourth priority must be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.

(e) fifth priority must be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.

(f) sixth priority must be given to all other applicants.
Note that prior to 22 December 2010 categories the first three categories were identical to the current categories.
